William J. Wester

William "Bill" J. Wester, 50, of Emmaus, died Sept. 16, 2014. He was the hus- band of Denise Louise (Herman) Wester. They were married for 22 years. Born in Miami, Fla., he was the son of the late William J. Wester and Dolores Marie (Gladis) Wester.

He graduated from South Miami Senior High School in 1982 and in 1983 graduated from the George T. Baker Aviation School as a certified aviation airframe and powerplant mechanic, followed by an Associate in Arts degree from Miami-Dade Community College in 1986. In 1989 he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla., followed by a Master of Business Administration from Temple University in 1994. He was inducted into the Temple University Beta Gamma Sigma honor society in May 1995 and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, University of Miami Chapter.

He was employed by McKesson High Volume Solutions, a division of McKesson Corp., as an account manager and project manager for the past 17 years. In 2012, he was presented with the McKesson President's Award, which is given to the most deserving employee exhibiting the McKesson ICARE ideals (Integrity, Customer-Centered, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence).

He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown. He had a true desire to help those less fortunate and in particular, children separated from their families. He served as a counselor with Camp to Belong in Illinois which reunites siblings separated through foster care, and most recently, participated in a missionary trip to Costa Rica to assist those less fortunate. One of his goals was to do the same in Africa.

He traveled extensively not only with work, but with his wife and daughter, extended family and friends. He was particularly fond of sailing catamarans among the British Virgin Islands. He was a certified scuba diver. He was a motorcycle aficionado, with his greatest passion being Harley Davidson and Kawasaki motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Julia Nicole; mother-in-law, Madeline L. Herman; brother, Glenn V. and his wife Patricia A., of Verona, N.J.; sister-in-law Colleen Dodson, of Allentown; nieces Renee and her husband Brent Garber, of Raleigh, N.C., Dr. Lauren and her husband Kevin Thompson, of Culloden, W. Va., Felicia and her husband Robert Kucharczuk, of Allentown; nephew Thomas V. Dodson, of Allentown; great-nephew Owen Thompson; great nieces Lucy and Caroline Garber, Emma Thompson and Mya Kucharczuk; sister Cynthia and her husband Gerard Schwer, of Somers Point, N.J. Marilyn Kooman, of New Port Richey, Fla., along with his nieces Deborah Dubiel and Nicole Benjamin, and nephews John Schwer and Brian Schwer and his wife, Karina, and their families. He was predeceased by a brother, John T.; his parents; and his father-in-law, Vincent E. Herman.

The family is requesting tax-deductible contributions be made to The William J. Wester Foundation for the study, education and prevention of neurological disorders. The foundation's focus is on mental health awareness and prevention, particularly for families at risk (tax exempt ID pending) c/o O'Donnell Funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Sept. 26 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. Calling hours will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 908 Hanover Ave., Allentown and 9 to 10:45 a.m. prior to Mass.
