UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON

ACCHS grads earns honors

Elizabeth Straccia and Meghan A. Lynch, both graduates of Allentown Central Catholic High School, are among 63 members of the undergraduate class of 2014 honored for academic excellence, service or both in recent ceremonies.

Lynch received the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Award. An accounting and finance double major, Lynch is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma, Omega Beta Sigma, Omicron Delta Epsilon and Alpha Sigma Nu honor societies. She also is a member of the business club, president of the dance team, team leader for the Student Alumni Association, studied abroad in Ireland and played intramural volleyball. She will work for Ernst and Young in Philadelphia.

Straccia received the Excellence in Nursing Award and is one of seven recipients of the Frank J. O'Hara Award for General Academic Excellence. A nursing major, Straccia is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Sigma Theta Tau and Alpha Sigma Nu honor societies. Straccia also is president of the Student Nurse's Association, a research assistant in the nursing department, teaching assistant for the biology department and participant in the Student Nursing Challenge.

Area student earns degree

Ashley R. Cressman, of Allentown, is among the 523 students to graduate in recent commencement exercises. Cressman earned a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education and graduated summa cum laude.
