HORNET HAPPENINGS New student and bus drop-off procedures at EHS

Editor's Note: The Press welcomes Colleen Grablick as the new Emmaus High School columnist. Grablick is a junior who runs cross country and track. She plays intramural basketball and is the associate editor for The Stinger, which is EHS' student run newspaper. She is part of Buzz Magazine, which is a student-run fashion magazine, the communications officer for Model Congress and a member of Key Club.

The 2014-2015 school year began with new student and bus drop off procedures. The designated student-drop off area is located in the auditorium lot. Students may only enter through doors six, seven and eight. All other doors will be locked during drop-off hours.

Dismissal procedures remain the same as last year with the exception of one rule. All students exiting student parking lots must turn right upon exiting. According to administration, the new drop-off system has been implemented in order to provide easier access to the building, decrease traffic and ensure the safety of students and drivers.

All college-bound juniors are encouraged to take the PSAT/NMSQT this fall. The test will be offered 8 a.m. Oct. 18 at EHS. Students must register in the counseling office through Oct. 10. There is a cost. Students are encouraged to look over the booklet given to them at registration prior to the test date.

Parents are reminded EHS will hold meet the teacher night Sept. 18.

Macungie Borough Council is looking for a junior or senior student residing in Macungie to serve on the borough council. Anyone interested should see their school guidance counselor.

EHS Student Government Association announced the schedule for homecoming festivities. During the week of Oct. 13 to 18, SGA will host different events such as powderpuff football, a pep rally, a bonfire, a parade and finally a homecoming dance.
