Staff at Ai Orthdontics, Emmaus, takes a moment for a photo with recipients of the practice's fourth annual scholarships awarded to graduating seniors who are patients in the practice. KennyMac Durante, left, Aubrey Miller and Mackenzie Brezak each received $750 to further their education. Durante, a 2014 graduate of Emmaus High School, plans to enter a pre-veterinary program at Delaware Valley College. Miller, who graduated from Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School, Bethlehem, will study biology at East Stroudsburg University. Brezak, a 2014 graduate of Emmaus High School, plans a double major in biochemistry and political science at Temple University. The scholarship awarded to Durante is titled the Emily Shoemaker Memorial Award to honor a former patient of the practice who lived in Salisbury Township and died of cancer in 2011. Shoemaker was a member of the Class of 2011 at Salisbury High School. One of the scholarships is funded by staff at the practice through casual work days. Staff members donate to the fund to wear jeans to work and Dr. Aejaaz Issa, owner of the practice, matches the funds raised.
