Pitch-in raises $1,000

Bill, Chris and Kyle Hankee are thankful for everyone who took part in the "Pitch-in for the Roberts Family" raffle at "Night in the Country" Aug. 16.

As a result of the raffle provided by the Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund, a check for $1,000 will be donated to the family of Sandy Roberts, 39, who died Aug. 13.

Sandy was the loving wife of Randy Roberts and mother of two teen daughters.

The donation will help offset the crushing financial weight of Sandy's many months of critical cancer treatment and provide a measure of comfort to the family knowing they are surrounded by a caring community.

Along with the raffle was a photo opportunity for parents to take pictures of their children poking their faces through a jungle scene, representing themselves as a lion or snake.

For a $1 donation, the family received a large cup of "Walkabout Safari Mix" to enjoy as they walked about the annual "Night" celebration.

Volunteers helping at the booth included Alice Harper, Dawson Kuhns, Tim and Priscilla McGinley, Barb and Tom Hudak and Cheng Tan.

The Hankees give super special thanks to raffle salespeople Ryan Cerrone and Melissa Smith, 2014 Krysta Hankee Scholarship recipients, who will be attending Penn State Main Campus and Misericordia University.

The young scholars are sent best wishes for a successful college career.
