Jacob's having Loop the Lake trail, fun run on Sept. 13

Lots of kids are sad about the season of sun and fun coming to a close. But with each season's end comes a new season of excitement with new friends, new places and new fun.

Best to all students and parents this school year.

Drivers, watch for big yellow school buses and kids along the roadways .

Jacob's Church, New Tripoli, is having a Loop the Lake 4.3 mile trail run Sept. 13.

Registration begins at 8 a.m.

There will be a non-timed family 1-mile groomed trail fun run as well.

Awards will be given to the top male and female runners as well as top finishers by age grouping.

Each finisher will receive a food voucher for the church's barbecue dinner that evening.

Proceeds benefit the church's mission trip to Kentucky.

Ebenezer's Closet, New Tripoli, will be open from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 11 and from 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 13.

There are free clothes for the entire family.

Take as much as you need. Proof of need not required. Clothing donations are not accepted at this time.

Frieden's Lutheran Church, 9727 Red Road, Stony Run, is having its annual apple festival, with food served 2-8 p.m. Sept. 20.

Apple dumplings, tarts, crisp, fritters, funnel cakes, ice cream, hamburgers, soup, fries, hot dogs, barbecues and other homecooking will be served.

"The Majestics" classic country, bluegrass and other music will be performed 5-8 p.m.

The event will take place rain or shine.

New Jerusalem Zion UCC, Route 737, Krums-ville, (across from Greenwich Elementary School) will be having an old-fashioned hymn sing worship service at 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 28.

Pastor Joshua Fitterling will give the message.

The service will feature Conlan Kerschner, teenage banjo wizard, and The Miller Brothers (Lester, Richard, Russell, Robert and William) family singers.

Everyone is invited to attend.
