Patrick Wise, a sophomore biochemistry major from Kutztown, received the CRC Press Freshman Chemistry Award during Albright College's 2014 Honors and Awards Ceremony May 4 in Reading.

In addition, Wise spent the summer tackling an Albright Creative Research Experience project.

ACRE is a multi-disciplinary program that affords undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct research or pursue creative endeavors during the summer break or the three-week January Interim. Students work alongside faculty mentors.

Wise's project is "Synthesis of Chiral Aluminum Bis(amidate) Complexes and their Catalytic Activity for Asymmetric Ketone Reduction." His faculty adviser is assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry Christopher Graves, Ph.D.

Many collaborative teams of students and faculty present their research at academic conferences and publish their results in professional journals.

The following students received diplomas after the 2014 spring semester at Albright:

Aaron Bredbenner of New Tripoli, Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry; Ashlee Raub-Rodriguez of Kutztown, with highest honors, Bachelor of Science degree in organizational behavior applied psychology; Kelly Remaley of Germansville, Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, and Lauren Gradwell of Fogelsville, Bachelor of Science degree in biology.
