Did we really have a summer? I'm honestly not completely sure we did.
The weather was fairly cooperative and there was plenty to do but here we are, in August, and I'm writing my first column of the new school year.
Ready or not, it's back to school time.

Catasauqua High School students will head back to school Aug. 25 to ring in the 2014-15 school year.
Doors open 7:34 a.m. and classes begin 7:40 a.m. Dismissal occurs 2:40 p.m.
Welcome, returning students and new students and freshman.

Driver education fall classes are now forming through the Gerhard's Defensive Safety Driving Academy.
The class includes 30 hours of Pennsylvania Department of Education approved classroom instruction designed to help develop a positive attitude toward driving as well as a focus on defensive driving techniques and managing distractions behind the wheel.
Students will also receive six hours of behind -the-wheel training.

Fall sports will be getting under way in the next few weeks.
Make sure you get out and support the student athletes by attending a soccer, volleyball, field hockey or football game or a cross-country meet.

Schools in the Catasauqua Area School District will be closed Friday, Aug. 29 and Monday, Sept. 1 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
School will resume Tuesday, Sept. 2.
