Driver misses deer;
pickup rolls over
State Police Troop M of Fogelsville say Douglas J. Ahner, 50, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 1995 Ford F350 along Mountain Road, Lynn Township, just after 4 p.m. on Aug. 13, when he swerved to avoid a deer crossing the roadway.
Ahner lost contol of the truck, which rolled onto its side.
He was transported by Cetronia Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
Jeep hits tree
along Owl Valley
State Police Troop M of Fogelsville report Julie A. Cloonan, 51, of Kempton, was driving a 2004 Jeep Liberty northbound on Owl Valley Road, Lynn Township, at 11:18 p.m. Aug. 13, when she apparently steered to the left and entered into the southbound lane of travel, just west of Schochary Road.
Police say Cloonan applied the brakes but the Jeep continued going straight into a grassy area.
As she steered to the left to avoid hitting a house at 5451 Owl Valley Road, the Jeep's rear spun counterclockwise and continued into a side skid, hitting a tree with its right front bumper.
Driver distracted;
car hits two walls
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Matthew S. Smith, 39, of Germansville, was driving a 1994 Saturn SL2 westbound along Kings Highway, Lynn Township, Aug. 17, when he apparently became distracted and looked down.
The car veered to the right, struck a wooden wall, mailbox and concrete wall at 8803 Kings Highway, then continued westbound and struck another concrete wall before coming to a final rest.
Smith, who police say was wearing his seat belt, sustained a moderate injury.
Police say he was charged in regard to the crash.
Items taken
from home
State Police Troop M Fogelsville report several items were taken from the home of a 58-year-old man of the 7400 block of Ulrich Mill Road, Lynn Township, between 7 a.m. and 4:05 p.m. Aug. 5.
Police say entry to the home was made with a crow bar via a first-story window.
