With the impending Aug. 25 start of the 2014-15 school year in Northampton Area School District, more new teachers have been hired.

The school board voted 8-0, with one member absent, to approve the hiring of 10 teachers and assistants. None of these are new positions. The board also approved resignations of some teachers and the transfer of other personnel. They are as follows:

· Brandi Gil, special education teacher, Northampton Area High School, effective Aug. 18 at a salary of $52,835, with benefits.

· Nicole Rothrock, kindergarten teacher, Franklin Elementary School, effective Aug. 18 for the 2014-15 school year at a salary of $46,050, with benefits.

· Laura Meyers, elementary teacher, Lehigh Elementary School, effective Aug. 18 at a salary of $46,661, with benefits.

· Theresa Bowser, elementary teacher, George Wolf Elementary School, effective Aug. 18 for the 2014-15 school year at a salary of $49,198, with benefits.

· Julie Poniktera, first-grade teacher, Moore Elementary School, effective Aug. 18 for the first semester of the 2014-15 school year at a salary of $46,050, without benefits.

· Jared DeGerolamo, elementary teacher, no school listed, effective Aug. 18 for the 2014-15 school year at a salary of $46,050, with benefits.

· John Grammes, one-on-one special education instructional assistant, Northampton Area High School, effective Aug. 18 at a rate of $10.77 per hour, with benefits.

· Chad Friend, special education instructional assistant, Northampton Area Middle School, effective Aug. 18 for the 2014-15 school year at a rate of $10.77 per hour, with benefits.

· Angie Eaton, special education instructional assistant, Lehigh Elementary School, effective Aug. 18 at a rate of $10.77 per hour, with benefits.

· Adam Bastidas, instructional assistant, Northampton Area Middle School, effective Aug. 18 at a rate of $10.77, with benefits.

· Kimberly Shelly, cafeteria monitor, Lehigh Elementary School, effective Aug. 25, at a rate of $10.77 per hour, with no benefits.

· Amanda Kirchoff, dance club advisor, $1,555.

· Voluntary transfer of Janel Strohl from Tuesday through Saturday custodian, Siegfried Elementary School, to Monday through Friday custodian, Siegfried Elementary School, effective on or about Aug. 12.

· Neali Feimster, unpaid childrearing leave, with benefits, Aug.18 through Oct. 24.

· Lee Strohl, unpaid FMLA leave, with benefits, through Aug. 13.

· Resignation of David Sheeran, third-grade elementary teacher, effective July 29.

· Resignation of James Karabasz, special education instructional assistant, effective Aug. 4.

· Resignation of Aaron Knepp, instructional assistant, effective Aug. 11.

· Resignation of Tammy Fox, physical education teacher, effective Aug. 11.
