Student makes

dean's list

Patrick Strobel was named to the dean's list for the spring 2014 semester at the University of Vermont.

Strobel, of New Tripoli, is a sophomore anthropology major in the College of Arts and Sciences.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Students earns

Shani Lynn Hohneck of New Tripoli earned an Associate's degree in applied science in dental hygiene from Northampton Community College in May.

Hohneck is a 2011 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School.

She will be attending Pennsylvania College of Technology starting in fall 2014 to earn a Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene in health policy and administration concentration.

Residents named to dean's list

The following local residents were named to the fall 2013 dean's list at the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia: Sean Maydick of Allentown, pharmacy; Kayla Smith of Kutztown, biology; Laura Walter of Kempton, pharmacy, and Kathryn Kalman of Fogelsville, pharmacy.

Selection for the award is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a "C" and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4 for courses taken in the fall of 2013.
