Aug. 20

The Shelter House Society will host its annual membership picnic 6 p.m. on the Shelter House grounds, 601 S. Fourth St. There is a small donation. All are welcome. Reserve a place by calling 610-570-1481.

Aug. 21

"Black Bears: Their Appetite for Honeybees" will be presented by the Pennsylvania Game Commission at the monthly meeting of the Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association 7 p.m. at the Lehigh County Ag Center, 4184 Dorney Park Road, Allentown. Aug. 22

The 36th annual Wheels of Time Rod and Custom Jamboree will be held through Aug. 24 at Macungie Memorial Park. The event helps support local charities and the scholarship program for local automotive technology graduates. Over 1,500 custom cars and street rods from all over the East Coast will be on display. Special events this year include Rick Dore and his recent car project, the Black Pearl, built for a Metallica band member; WWE pro excitement wrestling show Saturday afternoon; and a Vietnam era U.S. Army Huey on display. Activities include a huge flea market, refreshments, bingo, a basket auction, a cakewalk, auctions and musical entertainment. There will also be kids' activities such as crafts and games. Musical groups include The Fabulous Grease Band, the Allentown Hobo Marching Band and Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods. The show opens 7 a.m. each day and goes until sundown. Musical entertainment continues until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Wheels of Time Friday evening cruise will begin 6:30 p.m. from the Allen Organ parking lot and travel through Macungie, down Buckeye Road to Emmaus, up Lower Macungie Road to Willow Lane and back to Route 100 and the park. Aug. 23

The Heritage Alliance of Emmaus celebration for Sebastian Knauss' 300th birthday at the Knauss Homestead, East Main Street, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features Colonial games, food, music, favors, town crier proclamations, tours of the homestead and other historical sites and birthday cake.

Sept. 4

Allentown AARP Chapter #5415 will meet noon at St. Timothy's Church, 140 S. Ott St., Allentown. Aleah Miller, AARP Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program's outreach coordinator will present.
