Northwestern Recreation Commission is hosting the 16th annual Night in the Country 4-10 p.m. Aug. 16. Rain date is Aug. 17. There will be a live country band, huge car cruise, DJ, Chinese auction, bingo, great food and activities.
To end the evening, a fireworks display is planned. Suggested admission donation is $3 for adults; $2 for children under 12.

"Black Bears: Their Appetite for Honeybees" will be presented by the Pennsylvania Game Commission at the monthly meeting of the Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association 7 p.m. Aug. 21, at Lehigh Gap Nature Center, 8844 Paint Mill Road, Slatington.
The event is free and open to the public.

Jacob's Church, Jacksonville is having a Loop the Lake 4.3 mile Trail Run Sept. 13. Registration starts 8 a.m.
The entry fee per runner benefits a church mission trip to Kentucky.
There will be a non-timed family 1-mile groomed trail fun run, as well.
Awards will be given to the top male and female runners, as well as top finishers by age grouping. Each finisher will receive a $5 food voucher for the church's barbecue dinner that evening.
