Aug. 13

Emmaus History Society will host an antique appraisal program 4 to 8 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. Certified appraisers will give verbal appraisals for no more than two items per person. There is a charge. A plate of food and beverages will be provided for a nominal fee. All proceeds benefit the 218 Main St., Emmaus, new museum home.

Aug. 16

Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 Main St. will hold a back to school shopping sale 9 a.m. to noon. The sale includes gently used and some new clothes, shoes and backpacks for children kindergarten through 12th grade. New school supplies also will be available. Aug. 17

Community Partners 4 Kids will conduct a secure, electronic Child ID program for children at Artistic Toy Mfg., 1405 S. Albert St., Allentown, between 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Allentown Police Department K-9 Officer Django will visit during the ID event. Parents or guardians of the children must be present to authorize the electronic ID. Parents will leave with a secure digital file with the important ID information including fingerprints of the child, photographs, voice print and video of the child, all on an Amber Alert certified CD. Aug. 19

Concerned East Penn Taxpayers Association meeting 7:30 p.m. at Fire Company No. 1, Sixth and Broad streets, Emmaus. The speaker is Rich Shuker who will discuss a proposed new education funding model to promote economic growth and eliminate school district property tax. The Shelter House Society will host its annual membership picnic 6 p.m. on the Shelter House grounds, 601 S. Fourth St. There is a small donation. All are welcome. Reserve a place by calling 610-570-1481.

The Heritage Alliance of Emmaus celebration for Sebastian Knauss' 300th birthday at the Knauss Homestead, East Main Street, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features Colonial games, food, music, favors, town crier proclamations, tours of the homestead and other historical sites and birthday cake.
