Strunk wins state journalism awards

Writer for The Press, Bonnie Lee Strunk, received seven journalism awards from Pennsylvania Press Club, an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women, for work published in 2013.

Strunk's column, Living the Vintage Years, received two awards: first place in the Informational Columns category and third place in Personal Opinion Columns.

She won second place in the General Photo category for "Taking a Peek," a photo of a baby squirrel peering from its nesting box.

She also received a third place award in the Personality Profile category for her feature, "Old-fashioned doctor opens black bag of memories."

In addition, Strunk received honorable mention awards in Specialty articles Education, News Story, and Feature Story categories.

Entries awarded first place in the state contest were forwarded to NFPW for judging in national competition.
