Upper Milford Historical Society meeting 6 p.m. at Jasper Park in Vera Cruz. There will be picnic refreshments in the park and John Fegley will talk about the historic Lenape Indian jasper mines/pits found in Jasper Park with time to explore the pit areas. For more information, call 610-966-4376.

Emmaus borough's summer recreation program ends with a a swim and lunch party.

Aug. 3

The Emmaus Special Entertainment Commission will host a Carnival in the Park at Emmaus Community Park. Events include a magic act, music, food vendors, a rubber duck derby and more.

Aug. 5

The Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild will meet 7 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus. The evening's program, A Quilter's Journey, will be presented by award-winner and well-known quilting instructor Teresa Fusco. There is a charge for visitors. Aug. 12

The finale for the Emmaus Public Library's summer reading program, "Fizz, Boom, Read," will be held 7 p.m. at the library. Sign up at the library, 11 E. Main St. or call 610-965-9284 to register.

Project Lifesaver and Triad meeting 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Active Life, Allentown. Speaker to be announced. There is no charge to attend and guests are welcome. For more information, call Martha at 610-966-8511.

Aug. 13

Emmaus History Society will host an antique appraisal program 4 to 8 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. Certified appraisers will give verbal appraisals for no more than two items per person. There is a charge. A plate of food and beverages will be provided for a nominal fee. All proceeds benefit the 218 Main St., Emmaus, new museum home.

Aug. 16

Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 Main St. will hold a back to school shopping sale 9 a.m. to noon. The sale includes gently used and some new clothes, shoes and backpacks for children kindergarten through 12th grade. New school supplies will also be available. The Shelter House Society will host its annual membership picnic 6 p.m. on the Shelter House grounds, 601 S. Fourth St. There is a small donation. All are welcome. Reserve a place by calling 610-570-1481

Aug. 23

The Heritage Alliance of Emmaus celebration for Sebastian Knauss' 300th birthday at the Knauss Homestead, East Main Street 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features Colonial games, food, music, favors, town crier proclamations, tours of the homestead and other historical sites and birthday cake.
