Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will have a blessing of the animals ceremony in the grove 10:30 a.m. July 20.

The Rev. Dr. Patience Stevenson, minister of visitation, says there are many ways we can care for God's creatures.

One of these is to offer a blessing to those animals God has given us as pets. Bring pets on a leash or in a cage.

If your pet does not travel well or would be uncomfortable among strangers, a photo of the pet can be brought for a blessing.

"God's unconditional love for us is often reflected in the warm, unconditional welcome we receive from our pets," Pastor Stevenson said. "Let us give thanks for that special bond in this service."

The club is reaching out to former members for a compilation of its history.

Former and present members are invited to an anniversary celebration luau and pig roast from 4-10 p.m. July 19.
