Lynn board reviews survey

Brown Design Corp., which is helping make plans for the use of Ontelaunee Park, recently sent a survey to Lynn Township residents.

Ben Giralico, of the township recreation commission, said during the July 10 supervisors' meeting, it is important to have as many responses as possible.

The first two survey questions involved how long residents have lived in the township and the ages of those in the home.

The survey also asked how often people used the park.

The responses included: one to three times a year, 37, once a month, 32; and two to three times a week, 31.

Next was the activities in which residents participate: walking, 107; community events, 90; historical attractions, 79; concerts, 64; trails, 63; playgrounds, 56; picnics, 53; and restrooms, 46.

The survey also asked activities the residents want included: concerts, 27; pool, 26; tennis, 18; farmers market, 11; and more paved trails, 10.

Residents were asked if they would make use of any of the following: historical events, 74; community center, 55; dog park, 51; environmental education, 51; concessions, 48; barbecue grills, 48; extended playground, 47; enclosed pavilion, 41; tennis, 41; and spray park, 39.

Would you be willing to volunteer at the park? Fifty-seven said they would.

There were 74 general comments.

The township has $50,000 from recreation fees to use in the park and will approach businesses for grants.
