STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q. What grade are you currently in?
A. I graduated in June from Salisbury High School and will be entering my freshman year at West Chester University in August.
Q. What was your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject was tolerance and diversity because I had the opportunity to learn about the wide variety of cultures which make up our world.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I was selected for Colonial League Boys soccer 1st team All-stars and captained the team in my senior season. I was also selected for Colonial League Boys basketball honorable mention and served as a captain of the squad, too. I placed third in PIAA state's track and field competition in the long jump event. I will be participating in track and field at the collegiate level at WCU.
Q. What extracurricular activities were you involved in, both in and out of school?
A. On the high school level, my extracurricular activities involved soccer, basketball and track and field. In addition, I played AAU basketball for the past seven years. I was also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America throughout high school.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. I am currently working for the Salisbury Township Public Works for summer employment. In August, I will begin to pursue my goal of a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at WCU, as a precursor of furthering my education in dental school.
Q. What would you say your biggest challenge was so far?
A. One of the toughest challenges I was ever faced with was coming to terms with the passing of my dad in June 2011. He was and continues to be my motivation to strive to do my best in and out of the classroom.
Q. What do you want to be remembered for?
A. I would like to be remembered for my athletic ability and how I make those around me feel important and loved.
Q. Who is in your family?
A. My family consists of my mom, Melinda, my brother, Chris and my two dogs, Benny and Peaches.
Q. Do you have someone you look up to?
A. I look up to my dad because he was the hardest-working person I have ever known. He always had time for family and never hesitated to help someone in need of assistance.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. With each new chapter in your life comes a new adventure. Embrace it and live your life to the fullest.
