A new assistant principal has been appointed at Northampton Area Middle School.
The Northampton Area School Board voted unanimously June 23 to transfer Elizabeth Grammes, Borough Elementary Schools assistant principal, to the position of assistant principal at the Northampton Area Middle School, effective July 1, with no increase in salary.
The NASD school board also voted 9-0 at the June 23 meeting to approve the employment agreement between the Northampton Area School District and Carrie Beleno as a teacher at George Wolf Elementary School for the 2014-15 school year for a salary of $71,989, with benefits.
Also, Heather Sznoluch will receive an unpaid child rearing leave, with benefits, Aug. 18-Nov. 11 and an unpaid child rearing leave, without benefits, Nov. 12 through the end of the first semester of the 2014-15 school year. Christine Fischer will receive an unpaid childbearing-child rearing leave, Aug. 18-Jan. 15, 2015, without benefits.
In other business, the board approved the resignation of Douglas Fehnel as boys head volleyball coach, effective after the 2014 spring season.
Athletic event staff for the 2013-14 school year who were approved include Brandon Kinsey, Northampton Area Middle School weight intramurals, and Mark Scisly, weight room supervisor, and volunteer athletic coaches.
The board also approved the hiring of Lindsey Santanasto, English teacher at Northampton Area High School, effective Aug. 18, at a salary of $47,272, with benefits; and Nicolette Teles, K-12 reading and writing supervisor, effective July 1, with two days of shadowing in June at a per diem rate of $288.46, and a salary of $75,000, with benefits;
The board approved the resignation of Christine Fischer as Grade 8 team coordinator, effective at the end of the 2013-14 school year;
