Kids wrangle fish at annual grove rodeo

The fish were biting at the 14th annual Berks County Parks and Recreation Children's Fishing Rodeo at Hunsicker's Grove on May 5. About 150 people attended.

For those not fishing, activities included Berks Fly Tyers Club, fly-fishing demonstrations, crafts and other activities for the kids.

Cabela's and the Parks Department donated the prizes. Fishing supplies were available from Chris's Bait & Tackle.

First place winner in age 5 and under category was Arden Scaffidi with the largest fish.

Other prize winners were Cale Angelisanti, Cason Wong, Julianna Gourley, Ella Stettler and Ava Ramirez.

First place winner in age 6 and 7 category was Archer Scaffidi with the largest fish.

Other prize winners were Quinton Leschonek, Bryson Gregor, Cody Toplaic, Sara Baines and Jessiah Sahadath.

In the 8- to 10-year-old category, the winner with the largest fish of the rodeo was Colin Pape.

The second largest fish of this age group was caught by Trysta Kinney. Other prize winners were Britney Jeschonek, Brent, Caleb Moyer, Mackenzie Harpster and Grace Foster.

In the 11- to 15-year-old category with the largest fish was Cecily Ramirez. Other prize winners were Trent Kinney, Nathaniel Toplak, Kyle Smith, Briana Rau and Krista Torenchin.
