Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Avenue, South Whitehall, is having its "Fizz, Boom, Read" summer reading club for kids ages 2 and older through Aug. 9.

The Summer Reading Club is designed to motivate children to read as well as maintain their reading skills during summer vacation.

Stop by the library each week or two to tell someone there about a book you read or to solve the mysteries and brainteasers for chances to win prize baskets.

The book club for seniors at Luther Crest Retirement Community has been changed to 4 p.m. July 15.

Carly Simon will present stories and a craft for kids and their families at the following Parkland Elementary Schools:

·Parkway Manor Elementary,1 p.m. July 16;

·Schnecksville Elementary, 9:30 a.m. July 24;

·Fogelsville Elementary, 9:30 a.m. Aug. 6 and;

·Jaindl Elementary, 1 p.m. Aug. 6.

Family Movie Night will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the library.

Friends of the Allentown Parks will have its third annual model sailboat building and race 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 5 at Allentown Rose Garden, 2700 Parkway Blvd., Allentown.
