Lehigh Center Genesis HealthCare, Receives Award for Excellence

Lehigh Center Genesis HealthCare, located on Spring Creek Road in Macungie, recently received a Pennsylvania Department of Health "Award for Excellence in Health Care Compliance."

Of the 706 nursing facilities licensed and inspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, six are 2014 award recipients.

A statement released by Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Michael Wolf explains, "Facilities receiving the award were required to have no state citations over the last three years based on annual health survey inspections." During the presentation ceremony, Wolf emphasized the "enormous amount of effort" and "enormous amount of dedication to patients" put forth by Lehigh Center's administration and staff.

Susan Williamson, Pennsylvania Department of Health director for division of nursing care facilities, accompanied Wolf and bestowed the award which Lehigh Center's administrator Jon Weiland and Director of Nursing Jenn Repnyek accepted.

Chief of Staff Ellen Kern for Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, also presented Weiland and Repnyek with a commendation as did Bill Royer on behalf of Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th. Other ceremony attendees included several Lehigh Center patients, Russ McDaid and Wendy Johnson from the Pennsylvania Health Care Association, Bill Timm, Genesis regional vice president of operations, and numerous Lehigh Center staff members.

Furthermore, Genesis HealthCare is the parent organization for two other 2014 "Award for Excellence in Health Care Compliance" recipients: Schuylkill Center in Pottsville and Pennypack Center in Philadelphia.
