Good Shepherd - Bethlehem names new administrator

Joseph Shadid, RN, MSN, MBA, LNHA, of Bethlehem recently joined Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network as administrator, Good Shepherd Home - Bethlehem.

Shadid replaces Joe Hess, who recently retired after 11 years.

"Joe is committed to further improving our residents' great quality of life and will undoubtedly seek out new opportunities for our residents, staff and facility," says Samuel Miranda, Jr., MS, RN, NEA-BC, senior vice president of nursing care and chief nursing officer

Shadid previously was senior director of nursing care services-assistant administrator at Moravian Hall Square.

Shadid is a licensed nursing home administrator, in addition to being a master's level nurse and a wound care expert. He received an MBA and MSN from DeSales University.

Prior to his position with Moravian Hall Square, Shadid worked in nursing leadership positions for Lehigh Valley Health Network, HCR Manor Care and KidsPeace.

The Good Shepherd Home - Bethlehem and the Good Shepherd Home at the Conrad W. Raker Center, Allentown, provide long-term, residential care for people with severe neurological and physical disabilities because of conditions that include multiple sclerosis, brain injury, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury and muscular dystrophy.

Both facilities have received a five-star rating from U.S. News & World Report's 2014 Best Nursing Homes.
