LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

LVCHS graduation is Friday

Tomorrow is the last day of school for Lehigh Valley Christian High School students! Today we have our last exams, and tomorrow is check-out day and our annual Awards Convocation. This year we are also doing our National Honor Society induction ceremony as part of the awards convocation as well. Ten new members will be inducted, and many other awards will be given out tomorrow morning.

Friday evening is our 26th annual graduation ceremony at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church in Allentown at 7 p.m. We will be honoring the class of 2014 as well as the class of 1989, our first graduating class. They are celebrating their 25th anniversary of their graduation from LVCHS.

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Todd Williams, president of Cairn University in Philadelphia. Class valedictorian is Carissa Clift, and the co-salutatorians are Joshua Brennan and Mercedes Jacobs. Class President Geneva Piergiovanni and Student Council President Reghan O'Brien will also have a part in the ceremony. Special music will include a solo by Rachel Prusak, a piano solo by Ah Young Cho, a duet featuring Monica Snyder and sophomore Matt Weaver, and of course the LVCHS Choir.

The senior class returned last week from their class trip, a cruise to Bermuda. It was a great time to bond as a class one last time before they each go their separate ways. All of our underclassmen had their class trips last week as well. All chose to go to amusement parks, and the juniors also had a lock-in at the school.

We had a very special group perform in Chapel for us last week. They are called "Silent Witness" and they are middle school students from Lehigh Christian Academy in Allentown. They do several pantomime choreographies to Christian songs, including some with a black light and white gloves! Several of them will be moving up to the high school in the fall.

Two weeks ago we elected class officers. The senior class president is Alicia Smith, vice president is Kim Lay, treasurer is Joshua Rapp and secretary is Jacob Rapp.

The class of 2016 elected Alyssa Kritzberger as president and Andrew Groff as vice president. The rising sophomores elected Hannah Schoepple president, Jennifer Bosques vice-President, Seth Mickley treasurer and Katherine Vasques secretary. These will be our student leaders for next year, along with the new student council officers, listed in my last column.

We are sad to announce that one of our best teachers, Mrs. Lou-Ann Rogers, is leaving after 20 years of service at LVCHS. She

has been the head of our English department, taught our AP courses, and served as our guidance counselor. She and her husband, TR, who volunteered as our study hall proctor, will be moving south to take a position at a Christian school in Tennessee. Farewell to both of them, and thanks for all the years of service!

LVCHS is pleased to announce the promotion of a new Head of School, Mr. Brendan O'Brien! He has been serving as the assistant head of school this year, as well as the director of technology. He is a graduate of LVCHS from the class of 1989, and father of a graduate of the class of 2014. Mr. Brennan will be continuing at the school as the new director of education.

LVCHS is already accepting applications for the coming school year. Families interested in enrolling their students are encouraged to contact the school immediately, as spaces and financial aid are limited.
