Tyler Martin, a 2013 graduate of Parkland High School, finished his freshman year at Penn State, Hazleton campus, having earned dean's list status for both semesters and receiving an academic award for students maintaining a 3.7 grade point average or higher.

Kyle Sorensen, a junior, was recently named to the dean's list at DeSales University, Center Valley.

Sorensen, a 2011 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh School, is majoring in sports and exercise science.

He is the son of LeRoy and Louise Sorensen of New Tripoli.

Lauren Gardner of Allentown has earned high honors during the fall semester for the 2013-14 academic year at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, N.H.

Students named to the dean's list at the University have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance.

Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

Fogelsville man

on wrestling team

Grady Millick of Fogelsville, is a member of the wrestling team at Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio.

Millick, who is majoring in integrated science, is the son of James and Diane Millick.

Millick is a 2013 graduate of Parkland High School.

The Ashland University Wrestling Team is ranked 16th in the country for NCAA Division II.

Schnecksville man earns award

Joseph Brown of Schnecksville, earned the Humanities Department Distinguished Senior Award at Springfield College, Springfield, Mass.

Brown, a senior received the honor at the recent Springfield College Academic Awards ceremony.

Distinguished Senior Awards are presented annually to graduating students who have performed consistently well in the classroom. Award recipients are chosen by their peers in their individual department.

Sarah Nagel of Allentown was named to the dean's list for the 2013-14 school year at Penn State's main campus, State College.

Nagel earned a 4.0 grade point average for the fall semester and a 3.7 for the spring semester.

She is the daughter of Lisa Nagel of Allentown.
