The Catasauqua High School Baccalaureate Ceremony, held June 1 in the school auditorium, was filled with both seriousness and humor.
Faculty speaker Brad Evans, teacher at Sheckler Elementary School, told the soon-to-be graduates the lessons learned at Sheckler have been a constant part of their lives throughout their educational journey.
"All of these gifts you still use today," he said.
Evans encouraged the Class of 2014 to positively impact the world around them.
"I challenge all of you to go forward and make a difference in the world," he said.
Catasauqua Middle School teacher Kyle Rusnock, also selected as faculty speaker, humorously highlighted the unique and special talents of the student body by way of a photo slide show.
"A class like this doesn't come around too often," he said.
He also reminded the classmates to thank those who have helped them and to specifically thank family members.
"The Class of 2014 will be great and we're in good hands," Rusnock added.
During the program, Class of 2014 members Kanyi Creppy, Laura Kaeppel, Janelle Roth, Natalie Falcone and Tyler Trobetsky performed musical pieces for the audience.
Father Eric Gruber of St. Andrew's and St. Lawrence Catholic churches in North Catasauqua, provided the invocation and benediction.
