TRIAD Ellen Lansberry speaks on SeniorLIFE

SeniorLIFE, an alternative to nursing care placement, was the topic of discussion at the most recent Triad meeting held in the Lehigh County Senior Citizens Center, 1633 Elm St., Allentown.

Featured speaker Ellen Lansberry shared information on SeniorLIFE, a for-profit organization providing health care and support services for elderly persons.

The meeting also provided discussion on Project Lifesaver, a national program, which establishes a safety network for locating clients who might endanger themselves by wandering.

Project Lifesaver has been adopted in Allentown and Bethlehem. Since Project Lifesaver runs in conjunction with police departments, other municipalities must approve the program and send officers for training in order to receive services.

Allentown Police Chief Bill Reinick said, "[The program] should be rolling soon." However, he stressed the need for volunteers to assume the day-to-day organizational tasks. Furthermore, the need to develop volunteer job descriptions was presented.

TRIAD co-chairs Martha Lieberman and Linda Lewis will meet with police department representatives to discuss the issue in greater detail. Eleven potential clients are currently requesting Project Lifesaver services.

TRIAD's next meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. June 10.
