LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Lehigh Valley Sweet Adelines

The Lehigh Valley Sweet Adelines, an award-winning a cappella chorus with a 55-year history of performing in the region, will hold an open house Monday, June 2, at Saints Simon and Jude Church in Bethlehem, where they rehearse.

The chorus is currently seeking female singers of all levels of experience to stop by the event in order to meet the group and learn about an opportunity to sing onstage with them at their Sounds of Summer Concert. The July 16 concert will be held at Allentown's West Park.

Lehigh Valley Sweet Adelines is an affiliated chapter of Sweet Adelines International.

The group is comprised of women of all ages, 14 and over, who are students, professionals, community volunteers, retirees and mothers raising families.

The chorus preserves the unique American musical art form of barbershop and performs an engaging repertoire of songs that includes Broadway tunes, old standards, pop music and more.

Chorus Director Marilyn Block, both experienced and fun-loving, keeps the chorus focused on improving vocal production while preparing for community performances.

"LVC is a perfect organization for any woman who loves to sing and who wants to make friends, have fun and connect with her community," she says. "We have former and current church choir members, former high school glee club members, karaoke lovers and first-time singers who may have only sung in the shower previously. All of them fit right in."

This summertime program is perfect for women who enjoy singing and are looking for a night out and for girls looking for an interesting musical summertime activity.

Arrive at Saints Simon & Jude Church, on the corner of Broad and Sixth streets at 7 p.m. June 2 to get a glimpse of this vibrant, growing chorus.
