Multi-vehicle crash on Route 309 in Lynn Township

Five people were injured when the vehicles they were in collided 3 p.m. May 16 on Route 309, south of Gun Club Road, Lynn Township.

According to police, Rachael A. Tertel, 22, of Barnsville, was driving a 2000 GMC Jimmy northbound on Route 309, when she attempted to pass another vehicle and crossed into the southbound lane.

Her vehicle struck a 1998 Toyota Camry driven by John M. Trojak, 60, of Sharon, along its driver's side door, police say.

The Jimmy spun counterclockwise before being struck by a 2008 Cadillac DTS driven by Dixie D. Gross, 65, of Slatington, who was southbound on Route 309.

The Cadillac struck the SUV in the right rear bumper with its left front bumper.

James L. Danner, 30, of Lehighton, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, which then rear ended the Cadillac.

Police say the Camry traveled approximately 120 feet sideways striking the left rear bumper of a 1995 Plymouth Neon driven by Kenneth C. Pieffer, 57, of New Riggold, who was northbound on Route 309.

According to police, Tertel, Trojak and his passengers Marilynn Trojak, 55, Debra Trojak, 26, both of Sharon, and Gross were injured.

Tertel, Marilynn Trojak, Debra Trojak and Gross were transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Trojak's passenger Joshua Trojak, 28, of Sharon, Danner and Pieffer were uninjured.

All drivers and passengers were wearing their seat belts, police say.

The Jimmy, Camry, Cadillac DTS and Cavalier were towed from the scene.
