SALISBURY TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Salisbury Township School District Board of Directors voted at the May 14 meeting to approve a parameter resolution to permit Public Financial Management to investigate refinancing a 2009 and a 2010 bond and potentially borrow additional money for district building projects.

The board was advised the long-term interest rates are low and any increase or decrease will affect the final budget for 2014-2015.

Also approved was the district's 2014-2015 proposed final general fund budget reflecting total expenditures in the amount of $33,435,585 requiring a real estate tax levy of 17.5633 mills.

A student activity fund was established for the Business Club at the high school.

The board accepted the firm pricing of $3.06/gallon for ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel and firm pricing of $3.1950 for 87 octane unleaded gasoline. These prices were solicited and awarded through the Keystone Purchasing Network and were awarded on May 30 to Talley Petroleum Enterprises, Inc. The fuel is for use in district vehicles and school buses.

In personnel news, the board accepted the resignation of Meghan P. Ott as a learning support teacher at Harry S Truman Elementary School effective the last day of school.

Betty Aungst also announced her retirement as a part-time cook at Salisbury High School effective the end of the work day June 13.

Noelle Gabovitz, band front instructor, resigned effective April 29.

Elizabeth Carfrey was approved as a part-time one-to-one instructional assistant at Salisbury Middle School effective May 13 pending completion of requirements.

Catherine Creveling was approved as a full-time long-term subsitute at Western Salisbury Elementary School effective Aug. 25.

Diane Walbert has transferred as a part-time instructional assistant at SHS to HST.

The board approved the transfer of Megan Basile from a full-time science teacher at SMS to a full-time biology teacher at SHS effective the first day of the 2014-2015 school year.

Carol A. Goodley announ- ced her retirement as an English as a Second Language teacher at Salisbury Middle School effective on the last day of the 2013-2014 school year.

The next operations committee meeting is 7 p.m. June 2. The next curriculum and technology meeting is 7 p.m. June 9. The next regular board meeting is 7:30 June 18. All meetings will be held at the administration building.
