Driving under the influence
Donavan Fairclough, 39, of Allentown, was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence after a traffic stop 1:37 a.m. May 10 in the 1000 block of East Emmaus Avenue. He was taken to Central Booking for processing.
Suspicious person
Police were called to the South Mall, 3300 Lehigh St., Allentown 11:22 a.m. May 11 for the report of a suspicious person walking through the parking lot checking handles on vehicle doors. Police found the person seated on a bench waiting for a bus.
Theft
A resident in the 1500 block of Butz Lane, Allentown reported 1 p.m. May 13 they had work done at the home, paid with a check, and the bank account was charged twice. Police are investigating.
Retail theft
Marilitza Perez, 19, of Allentown, was charged with retail theft after allegedly removing two Ralph Lauren baseball caps from Bon-Ton, 3300 Lehigh St., Allentown, 6:36 p.m. May 13. She was taken to Central Booking for processing.
Disorderly conduct
Noelle Antonio Bautista, 19, of Allentown, was found unconscious on a bus at South Mall, 3300 Lehigh St., Allentown, 6:03 p.m. May 14. After some time Bautista told police he smoked synthetic potpourri. He was given a citation for disorderly conduct and released.
Theft
An unknown person removed a GPS unit from a glove box in a vehicle parked at 1200 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., 4 p.m. May 15.
Vehicle theft-aggressive driving enforcement
The Salisbury Township Police Department was conducting an aggressive driving enforcement 11:27 a.m. May 15 in the 2700 block of South Pike Avenue using the Electric Non Radar Device to time the speed of vehicles in the area.
A vehicle, traveling southbound on South Pike Avenue was allegedly timed at 56 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone.
An officer activated his emergency lights and siren to attempt to stop the vehicle.
The driver allegedly accelerated rapidly at a greater speed as the vehicle continued southbound on South Pike Avenue, allegedly attempting to illegally pass other vehicles to the left but was unable to do so due to traffic.
Officers in the 3000 block of South Pike Avenue attempted to motion the driver of this vehicle to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle initially began to pull off the roadway but then allegedly accelerated rapidly back onto the road, nearly striking two Salisbury Township Police officers. The vehicle continued to travel into Upper Saucon Township at a high rate of speed.
Officers were able to obtain the vehicle's registration plate and immediately provided it to Lehigh County Radio. Officers discontinued attempts to stop the vehicle but continued to follow the direction of this vehicle at a reduced speed.
As officers continued to attempt to locate the vehicle, they received information the vehicle was reported as stolen out of Allentown.
A short time later, Lehigh County Radio received information a vehicle had crashed into a wooded area on Saucon Valley Road and the driver had fled on foot. Officers from Salisbury Township, Upper Saucon Township and Coopersburg assisted in setting up a perimeter in the area.
The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle was apprehended about 10 minutes later by the Salisbury Township Police Department. He was offered medical treatment on the scene but refused assistance. He was transported to Lehigh Valley Health Network - Cedar Crest for evaluation as a precaution.
The incident is under investigation by the Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force and the Salisbury Township Police Department. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this incident.
