The Emmaus Historical Society meeting program is "Native Americans of Eastern Pennsylvania and the Jasper Quarries of Vera Cruz" 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church parish hall, Fifth and Chestnut streets. Candlelight vigil for Holly Grim, 7:30 p.m., 1183 Grange Road, Allentown. Grim has been missing from her Lower Macungie home since Nov. 22, 2013.

May 25

Memorial Day service at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Salisbury, 9 a.m. Buddy Riddle, former Houston Police Officer, former pastor and now investigator with the Austin County Sheriff's Office in Texas will be guest speaker. In 2006-2007, he was part of the State Department Mission to train Iraqi Police, assigned to the 977th MPs out of Fort Riley, Kan. While there, he survived severe injuries from two attacks. Riddle's message will focus on dealing with traumatic fears and facing them. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church activity center. Families and friends are encouraged to join in the tribute for those who paid the ultimate price, and to honor all veterans and service men and women. Military uniforms or hats and medals are encouraged to be worn. Memorial Day breakfast 7 to 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, Macungie. All veterans attending will receive a small token of recognition and appreciation. Patriotic worship service begins 9 a.m. with a brief graveside service following in remembrance of those who served in the armed forces. A presentation by New York Times best-selling author Carol McD. Wallace on her book: "To Marry an English Lord," the book inspiring the popular show Downton Abbey, will be given noon to 3 p.m. at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, Bethlehem. Hear about the glamour and misfortune that greeted some 100+ newly minted American heiresses who, having been snubbed by the Social Register, invaded Britannia to swap dollars for titles. First published in 1989, this book has been reissued for Downton Abbey fans. Wallace has collected photographs and anecdotes into a lively and gossipy talk and PowerPoint presentation, which she has given at historic houses, libraries and museums. There is a charge. GFWC-PA Woman's Club of Emmaus will hold its 74th annual spring banquet at Brookside Country Club 11:30 a.m. Installation of officers for 2014 through 2016 will be held. The program is "Music Through the Ages" by musician Todd Horne. For reservations, call Ginny at 610-797-4905.

Upper Milford Historical Society meeting, 7 p.m. The program begins 7:20 p.m. with Rev. Robert Gerhart presenting his chalk talk, "Drawing for Life" about missionary Annie Funk, from the Bally area, who lost her life on the Titanic. Gerhart tells the story of Annie's life all the while illustrating his narrative with chalk drawings. The finished product is a lovely piece of art. For more information, call 610-966-4851.
