Two Troop 5 Scouts, Chris Dryfoos and Andrew Boehme, were recognized for attaining the coveted Eagle Scout rank at a ceremony April 28 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 140 S. Ott St., Allentown, the Troop's sponsoring organization.

Dryfoss is the son of Walter and Kim Dryfoos, of Salisbury Township. He started his Scouting experience in Clarcona, Fla., and joined Troop 5 when his family moved to Salisbury Township in 2006. He has held several posts in Troop 5, including patrol leader, librarian and quartermaster. Through Scouting, Dryfoos has had many opportunities to broaden his horizons by participating in many Scouting activities and trips, including three New York City excursions, high adventure programs including backpacking in the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia, touring San Francisco and backpacking in the Yosemite High Sierras and exploring California's Lost Coast. Dryfoos will participate in the Troop's Philmont trip this summer before departing to college in the fall as a freshman at University of Central Florida.

For his Eagle project, Dryfoos organized a winter coat drive, benefiting the Allentown Rescue Mission and the Sixth Street Shelter. He collected and distributed over 350 winter coats and assorted toiletry items.

Boehme is the son of Richard and Sharon Boehme, of Breinigsville, and younger brother of Eagle Scout Thomas Boehme.

Born in Allentown, Boehme started his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub in Pack 5 at St. Timothy Church and continued through Webelos II. He earned his Arrow of Light Award before crossing over to Troop 5 and progressing through the ranks to achieve the Eagle rank.

Boehme has held various leadership positions within Troop 5, including assistant patrol leader and librarian. He has earned the World Conservation Award, the Pennsylvania Forest Conservation Award and the Pennsylvania Game Commission Award for Scouting. In the summer of 2012, Boehme earned his Order of the Arrow.

He has participated in a New York weekend trip, summer camp for several years, Jambo and Resica Falls campout in addition to other events held by Troop 5.

In 2012, Boehme joined Venture Crew 120. As part of the crew he helped several times with the Shankweilers Cub Scout overnighter, Jambo, Autism Respites and other events run by the crew.

In fall 2013, Boehme was elected the vice president of Venture Crew 120.

For his Eagle project, Boehme coordinated with the Alburtis Historical Society and the Borough of Alburtis to plant 12 historically themed letterbox/geocache hybrids for the celebration of 100 yrs of Alburtis' Incorporation.
