State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Joseph R. Favinger, 22, of Dillsburg, was driving a 1997 Saturn S01 10:10 a.m. April 23 on I-78 East, Weisenberg Township, when the car struck the rear bumper of a 2006 Freightliner Columbia tractor-trailer driven by Michael S. Grim, 46, of Center Valley.

Police say the car struck the rear bumper of the trailer when Grim slowed for traffic.

The drivers, who police say were wearing seat belts, were uninjured.

The car was towed from the scene.

Favinger was charged with traveling at an unsafe speed, police say.

2-vehicle crash

in Lowhill Twp

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Barry K. Diehl, 51, of Allentown, was driving a 2011 Ford Transit Connect cargo van 7:04 a.m. April 21 westbound at 7584 Kernsville Road, Lowhill Township, when the van struck the rear bumper of a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup driven by Dianne S. Voortman, 59, of Orefield.

According to police, Diehl failed to slow down as Voortman was making a left turn into a parking lot.

The cargo van came to a final rest in a field west of the point of initial impact.

Voortman, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained a minor injury, police say.

Diehl, who police say was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured.

He was charged with driving at an unsafe speed, police say.
