'No Limits' chili cook-off at Heidelberg Union Church

The youth group of Heidelberg Church, No Limits, recently sponsored a chili and soup cook-off to raise money for the group and for Bethany Children's Home, Berks County.

There were eight varieties of chili and four of soup entered in the contest.

Prizes were donated by the Bagel Bunch, Katie's Diner and Haak's Schoolhouse Restaurant, said Colleen Andrews, leader of the youth group.

The evening included a game night with games on each table.

Members of No Limits each provided a homemade dessert.

The best soup award went to youth member Sam Seyfried and his mom, Julie, for their Pierogie Soup. They won the Golden Bowl award and a $10 gift certificate donated by Bagel Bunch.

Best chili went to the youth team of Hannah Gough and Danica Andrews for their White Chicken Chili. They won a $10 gift certificate donated by Katie's Restaurant and the Golden Ladle award.

This was Hannah's second time winning a chili cook-off at Heidelberg.

Honorable mentions for chili went to Ashley Ringer and Marcia Green.

For Marcia Green, a youth pastor who is shadowing Pastor Karen Yonney, the cook-off was a new experience.

Green, who had prepared the puppet ministry for worship services on March 30, has not yet decided what her career will be when she finishes her studies.

The winner of the door prize was Sue Bickert, who won a $25 gift certificate donated by Haaks Schoolhouse Restaurant.

No Limits brought in $184 for their group and Bethany.
