Milne conducts final CHS choral concert

Richard Milne, music teacher at Catasauqua High School, presented his Third Spring Concert for Catasauqua residents on May 7.

"I think you will find this to be the best one," he predicted.

The audience consisted of friends and family of the high school musicians, but all raved at the performance.

The repertoire included popular tunes like "Someone to Watch Over Me" and a medley from "Phanton of the Opera" intermixed with unique sounds of "Flight of the Piasa," a fun piece, to the jazzy "Gospel John."

Before the concert, Milne, who will retire at the end of the school year after teaching for 39 years, took time to introduce each of the seniors.

"The seniors in this class were so inspiring to me that I delayed my retirement for a year," he said.

Seniors include Arianne Aguirre, Brittany Archbold, Megan Bahnck, Kanyi Creppy, Nataline Falcone, Devin Flores, Pattee Grady, Rebecca Guillen, Laura Kaeppel, Danielle Lilly, Aimee Mack, Emily Mertz, Tyler Mullin, Emily Naegel, Cecilia Ramirez, Katherine Reingruber, Scott Reph, Matthew Rodger, Janelle Roth and Jaillyne Taverez.

Milne, singled out Kanyi Creppy for special attention.

"In my 39 years of teaching, I have only had three students honored with state achievements. Kanyi Creppy was a member of the [Pennsylvania Music Educators Association] All-State Chorus," he said.

Also performing, members of the jazz band include Samantha Diaz on alto sax, Emily Ledesma on tenor sax, Laura Kaeppel on piano, Evan Deitrich on trumpet, Liam Kleckner on bass, Tyler Mullin on guitar and Emily Naegel on drums.
