Dent unopposed in 15th Congressional

Incumbent Congressman Charlie Dent, Republican, is running unopposed in the May 20 Primary Election for another two-year term in office. He has served the district since 2005.

The Press asked candidates why they should be elected or re-elected to serve constituents in his or her district.

Q. Why should voters re-elect you to represent the 15th Congressional District?

A. Serving in Congress is a humbling experience. You put yourself before your community and ask them to trust you will do your best to represent their beliefs, fight for their needs and protect their futures.

I never forget the trust shown me or the responsibility placed on me when people vote for me. They expect me to give the important issues of the day my full consideration and to act on them, to govern.

My record shows I've done that. I try to bring a pragmatic, clear-headed approach to my duties and responsibilities. I work in a bi-partisan manner and I don't kowtow to party leadership. Since the 2012 election, I've worked to: cut waste and duplication in federal programs with the goal of reducing unnecessary government spending; require Congress to pass a budget in order to be paid; support policies to encourage economic growth; and increase American energy production and independence.

If people again choose me to represent them, I promise to continue working in the best interests of our families and to never forget the great trust you've shown me.
