Day unchallenged in 187th District

Incumbent state Rep. Gary Day, Republican, is running unopposed in the May 20 Primary Election for another two-year term in the 187th Legislative District.

The Press asked candidates why they should be elected or re-elected to serve constituents in his or her district.

Q. Why should voters re-elect you to represent the 187th Legislative District?

A. I work hard for the 187th District, using multiple strategies to connect with people by telephone, mail, email, at district events and at their door.

Communication is vital to being a representative in Harrisburg. I do not guess your opinions; I ask. I know Harrisburg spending had spiked while paychecks haven't, so right-sizing government is my goal. As state revenue has declined, I have worked hard on the Appropriations Committee to craft a budget that maintains appropriate spending while trying to remove onerous costs to taxpayers, municipalities and school districts.

As Chairman of the House Select Committee on School Safety, I successfully guided the most bi-partisan committee of the House to recommendations for multiple agencies to implement keeping our children safe.

I am honored to represent the 187th District and respectfully ask your support to continue.
