LV water suppliers teach students conservation and wise water use

Lehigh Valley Water Suppliers, Inc., hosted the 14th annual HydroMania water education festival May 8 at Cedar Crest College to help educate elementary school-age students about water conservation and wise water use practices.

Since 2001, more than 15,000 students have attended the annual event and benefited from interactive water education presentations.

This year, students at HydroMania participated in an array of hands-on classroom and exhibitors' activities focused on the day's main topics: "What is a watershed?" and "How can I protect my watershed?"

The Lehigh Valley Water Suppliers' mascot, Dewey (the water drop), was on hand to interact with the student participants.

HydroMania was split into morning and afternoon sessions with school buses timed to deliver participants in an orderly manner.

Approximately 1,200 third- and fourth-grade students attended the educational event.

Students represented school districts from across the Lehigh Valley, including East Penn, Allentown, Nazareth, Northwestern Lehigh, Parkland, Salisbury and Easton.

HydroMania's prime sponsors were Deer Park® Natural Spring Water, PPL Corporation, Thermo Fisher and Cedar Crest College.
