Salisbury's baseball and softball teams came up just short of making this week's four-team Colonial League playoffs.
The Falcon baseball team dropped it's final game of the season, losing 11-2 at Southern Lehigh last week to finish the season at 13-7 overall and 10-6 in the Colonial League.
Notre Dame (Green Pond) won the South Division with a 13-3 league record. Salisbury finished a game behind Saucon Valley (11-5), which earned the first wild card spot.
Catasauqua and Northwestern also went 10-6 and the Roughies earned a spot in the playoffs via tiebreaker.
The Falcons head into thetournament most likely as the No. 4 seed in District 11 Class AA, but depending on which teams win league titles in the Colonial and Schuyllkill leagues, they could drop down one or two seeds.
If Salisbury remains at No. 4, it would likely host No. 5 North Schuylkill (13-7 overall, 6-6 Schuylkill League) in a district quarterfinal on Wednesday, May 21.
In softball, the Lady Falcons (13-7, 10-6) completed their best season in recent memory. They were in first place South Division before dropping their finals game of the season, 19-9 to Southern Lehigh and missing out on a wild card spot by one game to Bangor (11-5), which was one of three North Division teams to make the four-team league playoffs.
Salisbury is the third-ranked team in District 11 Class AA. Unless the league championships cause a shift in the seedings, the Lady Falcons will get a bye into the district semifinals and open Tuesday, May 27. They would most likely face No. 2 Catasauqua.
