SALISBURY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

A request to park a construction site trailer along a street in western Salisbury Township will not be granted.

The approximate 12- foot by 44-foot office trailer is to be used by Serfass Construction Co., Inc., contractor for the $6.5-million project, Legacy Place Cottages, two single-story buildings, 2051 Bevin Drive.

"Our ordinance does not regulate that," Salisbury Township Manager Randy Soriano told commissioners at the April 24 township meeting.

"I don't know that I would recommend that," Township Consulting Engineer David J. Tettemer of Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc. said.

"That would be a traffic nightmare," Tettemer continued. "I don't know how far from the intersection this [parking of trailer] would be."

"This is hazardous. I travel this," Commissioner Joanne Ackerman said.

It wasn't clear whether the request was to park the trailer along Regent Court or Bevin Drive. The construction site is at Regent and Bevin.

"I'm sure the neighbors would like to know about this," Commissioner Robert Martucci, Jr. said.

"Obviously, the neighbors would have something to say," Soriano said.

Salisbury Township Police Officer Bryan Losagio did a traffic study of the trailer proposal.

"If somebody hits that thing [the trailer], you're going to get sued," Soriano warned commissioners.

"I don't have permission to grant it [request to park trailer] because there are no regulations," Soriano emphasized.

"They [Serfass] haven't established a hardship [regarding the trailer location]," Soriano concluded.

"How about if we ask them [Serfass] to find a different place [to park the trailer]?" Commissioner President James A. Brown concluded.

Soriano said he would do so.

In other business at the April 24 meeting, Soriano told commissioners:

- The lead township fire inspector might be hired soon. Other part-time fire inspectors are also to be hired.

- The summer playground staff has been decided.
