State Rep. Julie Harhart, R-183rd, offers monthly veterans outreach hours in her office in Slatington Borough Hall, 125 S. Walnut St.

A veterans outreach specialist from the American Legion in Wilkes-Barre will be available to meet with local veterans and assist them with issues they may be having accessing benefits and services form the U.S. Veterans Administration.

"We have had such a positive response to this outreach service," said Harhart. "I know many veterans get frustrated trying to understand components of their benefits or trying to get access to services they are entitled to, and this specialist will answer their questions and help resolve any issues a veteran is encountering in a face-to-face, confidential meeting.

The veterans outreach specialist is available the first Thursday of each month on alternating months at Harhart's Northampton and Slatington district offices.

May's visit will be in Northampton on May 1.

Appointments are necessary.
