The volunteer recognition dinner, now in its 11th year, originated with former township commissioner Larry Unger to "honor individuals who have dedicated their time and energy to further the Salisbury Township community's quality of life." Brown said in his introductory remarks at the April 23 awards dinner held in the township municipal building meeting room, "It would be hard to run the township without the volunteers." Township commissioners proclaimed April as "Volunteer Recognition Month."
