Two bridges scheduled for repair

Washington Township supervisors have reported work will be done on two small Main Street bridges crossing Trout Creek between Emerald and Slatington.

The detour, from March 2016 through November 2016, will be via Rextown Road and Lovers Lane.

A public meeting will be scheduled in the near future.

Also during the April 1 meeting, it was noted the township received a thank-you from Slatington Public Library for the donation it received. Emerald Playground also gave a thank-you for its donation and "for helping the young athletes in our area."

Engineer Roy Stewart of Keystone Engineering, Wescosville, spoke to a representative from Metropolitan Communications Group.

Stewart said the company will place a line under a road it had initially requested permission to dig up in order to install fiber optic cables.

Township clean-up day for residents will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 7.

The gate to the drop-off area will be open Saturdays to bring branches and grass clippings.
