Rec committee seeks new members

Lynn Township supervisors April 10 meeting opened with Ben Giralico of the recreation committee thanking the board for its monetary contribution.

He then noted there is a shortage of help on the committee and asked if non-residents could be allowed on the committee as they also use Ontelaunee Park.

Giralico also asked if other car clubs could use the park for events.

The board agreed about the car clubs and saw no problem with allowing this use.

However, they said committee members should only be from Lynn Township.

Outside help at the park would be OK but not on the recreation committee.

The Snyder Farms subdivision represented by Greg Snyder gained final plan approval.

The one-lot subdivision is on the south side of Lochland Road.

Supervisors then engaged in a discussion on the road improvement fee.

Township Engineer Roy Stewart proposed a fee of $1,200 per lot based on an average lot width.

Supervisor Justin Smith said the recreation fee and the road improvements fee were too high.

The board, after several minutes of discussion, agreed on a flat fee of $900 per lot for road improvements regardless of lot size or road frontage.

The recreation fee was not changed.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber's report noted the road crew was busy doing pot hole repairs, fixing and replacing signs, sweeping and equipment maintenance.

A new ordinance will mandate connection in certain instances while others will be governed by the Second Class Township Code.

Smith and Supervisor Steve Feinour voted in the affirmative. Supervisor Brian Dietrich voted no.

A public hearing relating to the AARC District will take place May 8.

Newly appointed Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator Kermit Delong told the board he wanted someone else appointed to the position.

Delong said he would not have the time necessary to devote to the office.

Feinour said he wanted someone from the Lynnport Fire Company for this position.

Two part-time workers, Tina Snyder and Chris Dunton, were hired to work at Ontelaunee Park.

The township website will be re-designed and updated.

A proposal was given to the township by Wayne Kessler allowing Tammy White and Kathy Hermany to update the site.

The new proposal will save the township money with a fee of $2,057 the first year and a yearly fee of $507 after that.

Bids for road materials were also awarded.

Eastern Industries garnered the stone bids and the anti-skid, superpave and cold patch bids.

Slatedale Aggregate received the 2RC bid while Lehigh Asphalt obtained the sand bid.

A-1 Traffic Control got the bid for line painting and ISO Bunkers has the Diesel fuel bid.

Midland Asphalt received the oil bid.
