Salisbury twirlers to host, compete in TIA competition

The Salisbury twirlers are enjoying a very successful season. They have been preparing for many competitions including the upcoming Tournament Indoor Association Competition they will host at Salisbury High School 2 p.m. April 12.

The twirlers are comprised of two squads: middle school and high school.

Competition shows for both are designed by head coaches Chris Tocci and Rob Tocci in collaboration with Chrissy Young, Becky Gilbert and Nanette Dereemer for the high school; Julie Sentz, Lynn Unger and Cary Brown for the middle school.

The middle school squad has 11 twirlers and is currently ranked first in the Tournament Indoor Association among middle schools. While competing, they have won 18 Atlantic Coast Middle School Championships; four Jennifer Joy Dillman awards for most improved twirling squad and 24 consecutive Chapter 2 Middle School Championships.

The middle school twirlers perform "Over the Rainbow" for its 2014 program.

The Salisbury Middle School squad is the defending Chapter 2 Middle School Champions.

The high school squad is comprised of nine twirlers and competes at the highest level of twirling in the Tournament Indoor Association, The World Class. The squad is currently ranked first in the Tournament Indoor Association.

"The Red Shoes," an adaptation of the story by Hans Christian Anderson is the 2014 show for the Salisbury Falcon Twirlers.

Accomplishments for the high school squad include: 23-time Chapter 2 World Class Majorette champions; three Jennifer Joy Dillman awards for most improved twirling squad; 22 Atlantic Coast Indoor World Class Majorette Championship and for the fourth time, in 2013 the squad was presented the Robert Musser Award for outstanding sportsmanship.

The Salisbury High School squad is the defending Tournament Indoor Association Chapter 2 and Atlantic Coast World Class Twirling Champions.
