The American Lung Association in Pennsylvania will host its second annual Lehigh Valley Fight For Air 5K Run and Walk May 4 at Rodale Fitness Park, Mosser Road, Trexlertown.

Event check-in and registration begins 8 a.m. with the race starting 9:30 a.m.

Runners and walkers can also take part in a 9 a.m. dove release.

Each participant may release a dove to honor a loved one who is currently fighting or who has lost a battle with lung disease.

Those wishing to participate in the dove release can reserve a dove prior to April 15.

This year's event will also include a children's fun run, for children ages 10 and under, beginning 9:15 a.m.

"The American Lung Association in Pennsylvania fights all lung disease through education, advocacy and research," said Mary Lou Phillips, American Lung Association Leadership Board Chair in Pennsylvania. "Everyone has been affected by lung disease at one time or another. It is our goal to change that. By participating in this fantastic event by walking, running or making a financial pledge, you can make a difference."

Each participant pays a registration fee prior to April 15 and is encouraged to collect a minimum of $100 in donations to be eligible for prizes.

After April 15, the registration fee increases.

This year, the ALA-PA's goal is to raise $30,000 for lung disease prevention, research and advocacy programs.

Event participants and observers may park at Rodale Fitness Park on Mosser Road, directly across from the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.
