Nature in Photographs, the first annual photography show to be held at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center, Slatington, held an opening reception March 23.
There was a good turnout of people who enjoyed the variety of photographs. Both the subjects and the photographers came from a wide area as well as locally.
From the approximately 150 entries, 50 were chosen to be entered in the show in three categories: wildlife, scenic and macro.
Phil Campbell, one of the judges, will be teaching a nature photography class for beginners to intermediate May 17 and 24. His class will be equally applicable for digital or film cameras. Each person will receive a DVD of the class material.
The other two judges were Anita Collins and Bob Hoopes.
Charlotte Bentz, of Lynnport, said she has a certified wildlife habitat. She was watching the flicker she photographed and waiting for babies when a grackle "kicked her out and used the nest for her own babies."
The show is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through April 5. In addition, the show is open 5 to 7 p.m. April 1 to 3. There is no charge.
The People's Choice award will be a canvas wrap print, valued at $300, from Dan's Camera City of Allentown.
