Celebrate Pennsylvania Dutch springtime traditions with Easter on the Farm, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12 at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center, 22 Luckenbill Road, Kutztown.

Attendees will enjoy a wide array of activities, including hearth cooking, folklife demonstrations, dandelion salad tasting, a petting zoo, arts and crafts vendors and more.

In the Freyberger One-Room Schoolhouse, visitors can discover what it was like to be a student in a one-room school during a schoolmarm presentation 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Guests will also have the opportunity to hear author Dori Hock read from her children's book, "Pearl of Richmond School" 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Readings will be followed by a book signing.

In the Sharadin Barn, daylong Fraktur and hex sign painting demonstrations will keep people enthralled.

Mike Hertzog and the Blue Mountain Trio will headline the musical performances in the Freyberger One-Room Schoolhouse.

Local favorite Keith Brintzenhoff will also stop by the schoolhouse for two half-hour children's music performances 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Yodeling Betty Naftzinger will take the stage 2 p.m.

Naftzinger will perform songs in Pennsylvania Dutch and teach the audience how to yodel and sing along with her.

The Children's Tent will feature crafts for all ages; free make-and-take projects include paper suncatchers, baskets and beautifully dyed Pa. Dutch scratch eggs.

Additionally, there will be a full petting zoo, provided by Noah's Animal Adventures; pot belly pigs who perform tricks, courtesy of the "Puddin' Heartland 1st" pig rescue; and, for a small fee, pony rides, provided by Wannamaker Ranch.

Children up to age 10 can participate in an Easter egg hunt 11:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. and small prizes will be awarded for finding 'prize eggs.'

Candy for prizes and giveaways was donated by the R.M. Palmer Company and Just Born, Inc.

The Old Time Plow Boys Club will demonstrate and display their antique tractors and farm equipment, as well as offer wagon rides around the beautiful and historic Sharadin Farmstead and cook refreshments in the Plow Boys Kitchen.

The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen will demonstrate their craft onsite and will offer some of their items for sale.

Tinsmith and guild member Ray Oxenford will demonstrate how to make tinware and Pat Oxenford will show guests how to paint tin and metalware in the working tinsmith shop.
